Post your shave of the day for Wednesday!

    • Brush: Farvour Turn Crafts w/ C&H v12 Fanchurian
    • Razor: C.V. Heljestrand MK 31 11/16 Full Hollow (on loan)
    • Lather: Noble Otter - Jack (smush)
    • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Jack Aftershave Splash (dribble)

Todays shave comes courtesy of @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social. He sent me his MK 31 and a few smushes to try out. This MK 31 is an awesome shaver. Like yesterday’s shave with the Rifiuto, the Swedish steel is light and has such a gentle feel. It’s easy to see what makes them so appealing.

First time with Jack. I think it’s almost lighter than Joker in scent strength. I’m sure a part of that comes down to all the citrus. Once you do get a good whiff, it’s pretty straightforward citrus and juniper. I’m not personally a big fan of gin, so this scent doesn’t do it for me. For those who don’t mind it, I can see this being easy to enjoy. Although light, it’s very well done. Nice shave this morning.

    • Lather: La Barbiera Classic Soap
    • Brush: AP Shave Co G5C 24mm
    • Razor: Gillette Tech
    • Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword (India) (3)

This blade delivered a third great shave. This time in the Tech.

This soap has a sweet woody scent. I’ve used the lemon scented La Barbiera soap more than this one. I am not a massive fan of the scent of the Classic but the performance is ok and the price is very affordable.

    • Pre-Shave: O Way Softening Shaving Cream
    • Lather: Taylor of Old Bond Street Peppermint

A minty fresh Wednesday shave. Don’t rhyme as well as it would have done on Monday, but it felt great on a muggy morning.

    • Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3
    • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 1)
    • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 2)
    • Blade: Personna Platinum Chrome (1/1)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - Soap
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Coniferous - Witch Hazel & Aloe
    • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdP

Side by side comparison of Gen 1 & 2 Guerillas. Interesting results! In using the Gen 2 on its own a couple of times, I would have sworn it was more efficient than the Gen 1, but using it side by side did not show that to be true.

I used the Gen 1 on the right side of my face, and Gen 2 on the left. The first pass is where I saw the biggest difference, with the Gen 1 leaving shorter stubble. Subsequent passes resulted in an identical shave.

Tomorrow I’ll switch sides to take into account technique.

The winner for this shave - Gen 1. It fits my preference more, as I like mild, smooth feeling razors. Gen 2 is not aggressive, but it edges a little closer to a medium feel.

    2023.06.28 SOTN:

    • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

    • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

    • Razor: Henson AL13(+++)

    • Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp (2)

    • Lather: Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime

    • Post Shave: Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Nice and very cooling shave today. Was actually one of the better lathers I’ve had, so I’ll have to continue to do what I did today. No nicks or cuts. I think I’m preferring the +++ Henson to the +. After this blade I’ll try a different one to try despite loving Perma-Sharps.

    • Preshave: Proraso Green Preshave
    • Brush: Yaqi Aqua 24mm Synthetic
    • Razor: GEM MMOC
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (9)
    • Lather: Chiseled Face Midnight Stag
    • Post Shave: Chiseled Face Midnight Stag Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Nivea After Shave Balm

The tallow base of Midnight Stag is troublesome, and I will certainly not restock once emptied. However, the aftershave is really great, and leaves me with a n amazing post-shave feel.

The MMOC gave me a close and comfortable shave.

    Have a good evening!

    • Razor: J.A. Henckels Friodur 472 13/16" Full Hollow Square Point (Straight Shave 262)
    • Lather: Noble Otter - Joker - Soap
    • Post Shave: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
    • Post Shave: Unilever - Brut - Aftershave

2 passes. Bowl lather. Excellent shave.

Today I used a smudge of Joker provided by @whosgotthepudding@sub.wetshaving.social. When Joker was released, I was concerned about the citronella scent note but liked everything else about it. I figured I would wait to see what the community reaction was to this. Instead, I bought Jack which I thought would be a good summer scent, and which I’m very happy with.

Joker is a surprise to me, though. Like Jack, the scent strength is lighter; at the Saponificio Varesino level. The scent, itself, is beautifully blended (my reaction to Jack, too). Very pleasant and slightly exotic. I don’t mind the lighter strength so long as it doesn’t interfere with one’s ability to enjoy scent nuances.

In my view, both Joker and Jack are scents that I would use in EdP form.
