Bear in mind the Meltzer margin of error as of late, but…

The URL resolves to this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in which the detail is mentioned. It’s not possible to link anything else to source it as it’s under paywall and other news sites need to pick it up and write articles about it first lol

This feels far too stupid to be real tbh. Out with injury for ages, comes back and has one match, is reinjured to a career ending degree which coincidentally fits the storyline perfectly?

I have a couple of doubts lol

At best or worst the injury he was out for ended up worse than expected or wasn’t healing correctly so he came back and did his send off match.

But if that’s the case, then it’s disgustingly irresponsible to have been medically cleared.

It’s so much worse if this is legit.

On the 1 hand: Yes, if he was injured, he really shouldn’t be cleared to wrestle.

On the other: Getting medically cleared isn’t always a binary. Look at Cody when he wrestled a year ago with his pec torn clean off the bone. Saki Kashima right now in Stardom is wrestling with an injured foot (but she also wrestles about 30 seconds in a 10min match so she can bluff through it). Depends entirely on what the real injury is and if he’s at the “Well…I mean you aren’t gonna fuck it up worse” stage.

Good thing is the type of match was, for his injury, low risk. PLB was lots of walking around and Trent taking most of the bumps till the end.

I think its worth bearing in mind that professional sports people compete injured all the time, and “career ending” can mean a lot of different things.

Eg I don’t think we’re talking never be able to walk again type of injury - but it could just be something that he will lose range of motion, or be in pain until its fixed surgically and then once fixed he won’t be in pain or will have full motion but its not safe to risk the repair from that point on.

And, of course, the whole thing could be a work :)

Several sites are reporting that Chuckie T is preparing to transition to coach/producer, so even if his in ring career is over he will still be working.

It still breaks my heart though. I love Chuck and the Best Friends.

      Yep

And same. I need him to at least show up once every year or two for an unexpected Awful Waffle.
