Thank you for the kind words earlier Friends, I’m feeling a lot more okay now. Sometimes my brain gets carried away.

I did things that cheered me up and that really helped, made some cheesy potato cake thingys and planted one of my propagated monsteras in a pot and changed the pot of another plant and that all made me feel better. I’ll have to relax tonight and put a face mask on and do some graphic design/drawing so I can get my Lizzo T-shirt and/or bag done in time.

I have some face masks in my makeup cabinet I haven’t used. I really need to pamper myself a bit more methinks. I have a bath for heck’s sake. Glad you’re feeling better, we have a wonderful little vibe going on here and it’s heartwarming to just now read all the messages of support you got this morning. Good luck with the drawing, Lizzo is amazing.

The vibe here is lovely! It’s a real little community.

I’m jealous you have a bath, I loving having baths.

I should really use it more but I’m out of the habit having not had one for over ten years. They are soothing beyond words. I even have some locally made scented candles. Ok I’m convinced. I’m doing a little more internet then face mask and bath. My body needs more exercise and heat therapy. Sorry if I just made you more jealous and I hope you can do some adequately similar self care :)

Haha you did make me more jealous but I’m glad you’re going to get into some more self care. Enjoy! I’ll be here with my face mask on, in my electric blanket wanted bed pretending I’m sitting in a bath haha

Can we please have more info on these cheesy potato cake thingies? They sound like my kind of comfort food.

Mashed potato mixed with cornflour, with cheese stuffed in the middle and pan fried. from this tiktok I just didn’t add sugar, but I added garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the potato.

how many dumb fkn poems have i written ffs

Just got out of bed, feeling a bit fried
Interview later, I wonder if I’ll be hired
The cat slept with us, and now he’s yowling
Though he’s been fed, he thinks his tummy’s still growling
Curled up on the couch, heater in my face
I’m anxious about this employment race
It’s hard to talk myself up when I’m so iffy
But I’ll clean myself up, looking so spiffy
I’ll cage up the thoughts that hold me back
And when I get home, I’ll have a panic attack
As long as I can hold it until after I’m done
I’ll nail this appointment, and then I’ll have won.

Day 56 of The Diet. Scales said “That’ll do, Raven. That’ll do.”

Now it’s time to eat ALL the things move to a sensible maintenance diet for a while, and focus on my weights routine and building up some muscle. Then four more sets of 5kg dieting interspersed with maintenance/exercise focus. I think this is a good plan, breaking it up into smaller achievable goals rather than trying to do it in one go. Easier to maintain motivation and not to burnout.

I think it is very sensible. Past efforts have usually involved trying to use the initial burst of motivation to lose weight quickly and do lots of exercise, which goes well for a while but is followed by burning out, giving up and putting weight back on. I think I am finally learning from my past mistakes🙂

I’ve been there, my friend! Every exercise regimen I’ve begun has ended up the same, with me achieving little and becoming disillusioned… That reminds me, I can fit a quick workout in before work!

Sometimes I feel like an absolute void of nothingness, no one truly cares for ME, no one reaches out via message, I hang out with friends sometimes, but we’re not super close. I just feel alone.

I really appreciate it, I’m an only child as well and I thankfully do have my mum and I’m so sorry your parents aren’t there for you.

You’re right in what you’re saying, I just want someone to message and ask if I’m okay and to not always be there one initiating contact.

Thank you for caring and telling me you care, I needed that.

Improve your relationship with yourself. Be the person you need you to be. Easier said than done right? It used to shit me too, but why DONT we love ourselves? Cause in the end, at the very very end, we’re all we got.

I have done a lot of work on loving myself and I’m most of the way there but I do still struggle with not having people around me that care. I spend a lot of time with myself and I’m great company but I do like other peoples company as well.

Hey there misssdarylc. Sorry, I’ve been reading your posts for a long time but I’ve never taken the time to respond. I’ll change that for what it’s worth. I adore hearing about your love stories and struggles with navigating apps and trying to find a good way to find someone.

I’m sorry you feel alone, isolation is hard and I feel like most of my friends just aren’t really there too much either. I had people cancel or defer plans twice this week already though at least one was due to illness. It’s a bit disappointing honestly. I hope this reply can start at least some nice exchanges here. Nothing is stopping you from feeling the love I’m sending you right now via through the ether.

      Best wishes

      Hongo xo

        Hey Hongo,

I really appreciate you taking the time out to say all of this, it made me teary eyed! People suck with cancelling plans, it’s so frustrating.

[update] The 7:00 bus arrived at 7:14 with nobody on it (apart from the driver). I don’t know if he’ll make it to the train station in time for me to catch the 7:16 connecting train…

I tend to avoid posting negative comments so… thanks for listening.

Ugh, I hate that. Happens a lot. It’s not so bad when I was on the Frankston line because I could catch a train 10 mins later, but being on the Pakenham line it’s a 20 min wait. Which I mean I’d rather that then deal with the 50-min to 1hr 20 bus wait when I used to live on the peninsula.

Nice. Have you chosen the replacement, or do you you have shopping ahead of you?

I’ve been unable to decide between replacing and recovering my old lounge suite for about 5 years now! It currently has a cheap cover on top so you can’t see the torn threads and has an old doona on top of the cushions to add some padding. I really need to do something about it.

Avoid Berkowitz, they were unbelievably shit when we got our new couch a few months back. Gas-lighting scumlords. Their argument was: “Chinese people put their sofas against a wall, so damage during shipping and wonky stitching on the back of the couch is to be expected”. Arseholes.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens long term, especially after apps stop working. I am hoping that there will be enough creative people who move to alternative places that some small vibrant communities can form. I don’t want the endless memes and scrolling of Reddit, to me an engaged group of 20 people would be better than 20,000 disengaged scrollers.

I think there will be a lot of confused people trying to access Reddit. We might get a few stragglers but I think word of mouth is better for getting people involved - ie messaging them to come over.

        Quality over quantity, absolutely!

@Kwikxilver @StudChud I’m glad too (as a mildly active occasional ex-Redditor, but a very active Fedi user). But sorry Briswegians aren’t doing the necessary work to try Fedi - because it IS work to do so and needs a critical mass of users to stand their ground, and notify people of a genuine move. I’m likely to be more active in here than I ever was on Reddit, and it hasn’t been as annoying as I’d expected in my main Mastodon feed.
