Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to follow this Lemmy community from Mastodon, using the Web interface.
Step 1: Copy the URL of the Lemmy community you want to follow. In this case: https://sh.itjust.works/c/opensim
Step 2: Go to the website of your Mastodon instance.
Step 3: Paste the copied URL into the search field in the top left corner.
Step 4: Hit Enter.
The search should now show the community as the only search result.
Step 5: Click the follow button much like you’d follow another Mastodon user.
Congrats, you’re following this community now!
Hmm, that’s not working on my Mastodon. It’s just not finding anything
@Hyacinth I’ve tried again on Hubzilla, I’ve tried a Mastodon account under a different identity, and neither can find it anymore.
Interestingly, I can’t find any community on sh.itjust.works anymore, neither with Hubzilla nor with Mastodon. It may have to do with this issue. It may have to do with the recent upgrade of sh.itjust.works to Lemmy 0.18.0 which may or may not have introduced new settings on the community admin side.
Maybe I should join sh.itjust.works myself and report this issue.
Shit’s obviously not working. haha I think it’s neat though.
@Hyacinth I’m waiting for a reply from staff or anyone else now.
@Hyacinth This seems to have to do with the 0.18.0 upgrade. lemmy.ca has the same problem as sh.itjust.works.
Issue/bug report on GitHub is being written as I speak.
@Hyacinth Okay, I’ve joined sh.itjust.works to report these happenings just to discover even weirder things:
The post did appear on Lemmy. There’s another post from 5 days ago. But both posts are invisible to anyone who isn’t logged into sh.itjust.works, i.e. both visitors and users of other projects like Mastodon or Hubzilla.
Here’s my report.
