I have a street I want to install temporary bike lanes on, but worry some of the people on the street may dislike the “removed parking”. From centerline to curb is 20 feet, which is not enough for a driving lane, a parking lane, and a bike lane, as driving lanes need to be 9 feet, parking lanes should be 8 feet, and bike lanes should be 5 feet.
When walking this road, it seems like fewer than 10 cars even park alongside it, and there are large stretches where the (temporary) bike lane wouldn’t actually matter.
Has anyone else gone through similar situations? Was there any backlash or was it more positive?
