I’m looking into setting up a home assistant smart lighting system just like this person has although they use the Lutron Aurora dimmer which isn’t made to be placed on top of EU light switches.

Is there a Dimmer switch that works for EU? I have found alternatives but they all require removal of the switch already in the wall rather than placing on top, which isn’t very renter friendly

Do you know someone with a 3D printer? Tuya make a 1/2/4 button battery powered switche that is resold under a number of brands.

    -CZ/SK

    -UK

There are several designs on Thingiverse to mount them over existing switches.

I’m surprised Tuya don’t make one themselves.

You’ll either need to replace the dimmer itself (I use Ecodim Zigbee as a drop in replacement) or use a completely separate one, I haven’t heard of anything that “sits on top”.

yes i realize that. unfortunately something like the ecodim zigbee is not an option so i will have to settle for a separate one.

if you look at the lutron aurora you will notice it technically sits on top of an existing switch, but there isnt really an EU version of that which makes sense

Check Ikea. They’ve got a whole range of led lighting that has its own wireless control system.

looking at Ikea I found the Tradfri wireless dimmer, perhaps I could just use that an stick it on a wall with something like double sided tape… not ideal but it works

this may be able to help me integrate it

For sticking anything to walls, I’d highly recommend 3M’s Command range rather than regular double sided tape. They’ve a bunch of products for fixing things to walls that come away cleanly when you take them off.
