I’ve never been much of an audiobook person, switching back and forth between physical copies and e-books depending on the situation. However on a recent road trip my wife and I started listening to Mistborn on Audible together.

We’re now a few chapters into Well of Ascension and I have to say it’s been an amazing experience, and has really enhanced things for both of us.

It’s fascinating getting to hear real time takes on different characters and scenes, as well as theory crafting. Some not very accurate, some right on the nose. We’re currently on chapter five of WoA and…

Hero of Ages spoilers

after a second recounting of Vin’s mother killing her sister and piercing Vin’s ear, she wondered aloud if that might have something to do with how much more powerful than a normal mistborn Vin seems to be.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with listening to the Audiobooks with someone? The biggest issue we’ve encountered is finding ways to break up sessions when getting close to the end of the book, even listening on 1.2x speed the Sanderlanche of The Final Empire is still 4-6 hours long.

    My partner and I love listening to audiobooks on road trips, and it’s absolutely led to some great conversations that we never would have had if we’d just read independently. We also read Dawnshard to each other before its audiobook came out and that was a fun experience too. Stories are for sharing!
