This is pretty significant news with regards to spaceflight. SiFive has been contracted by NASA to created a reference design and production chips for RISC-V. NASA is standardizing on RISC-V for space-based computer systems, so that they can switch vendors if need be without having to rewrite and retest code. Hopefully this flies under the radar of the US Senate so that they can’t do their usual meddling-with-NASA-to-profit-their-donors grift.
There is still that idiotic Obama era law that forbids NASA from doing any cooperation with China.
