People need to face the facts that this isn’t going to be a normal election because:
Much of the Republican Party believes that the prior election was illegitimate
Project 2025 exists and was drawn up by people close to Trump
The violence at the capitol was strategically denied and much propaganda has been produced about it, leading many to believe that republicans did not orchestrate it.
Many of those allied with the Jan 6th takeover are, regrettably still in power. Nothing is stopping them from trying it again.
Trump has changed tone entirely and now commonly alludes to violence toward his enemies, jailing his political opponents, and has many believing that the justice system is completely failed.
Minorities are being targeted on a grand scale and xenophobia means that republicans can do anything as long as they attack the border.
The voices of women and young voters are getting extremely loud and patriarchy on the right cannot tolerate it.
Now realize that the dots between these issues have yet to be connected for republicans in the nation. Why vote if it’s all rigged? Why hold elections at all? Why not be violent if Jan 6 was a hoax? Why not aim violence squarely at trumps enemies if elected? Why not turn against minorities and women who perpetuate ideas you hate? It’s like kindling and one false flag sets it all off.
I bet much of the world looks at it like America is getting its comeuppance for all the meddling they have done over the years.
We’ve been fed American exceptionalism so hard we can’t believe outside forces could have allied with our own politicians to overthrow the government.
I will reiterate, the rich don’t have boarders, only vested interests. They can escape to where ever they want when they bring down the democracy propping up all our civil rights.
How niave it is to think the the owners of this country would ever give up their prejudices and allow an ounce of power to escape their grasp.
We would all do ourselves well to learn how other countries who have lost their democracy have dealt. I’m not saying there is any saving grace in those stories but it will be best to prepare yourself for living under true, unveiled, oppression.
It’s called denial. Until 2016 i honestly felt the slow walk towards a dictatorship but it felt like a long ways away. This country is a tin pots wet dream. Like getting the keys to Dad’s car and oh shit . 358 and a kilo of Peruvian?
Until 2016. Then it felt like the floor tipped and the sliding hasn’t stopped yet. It’s terrifying. People are dying literally everywhere and the only concern is who is to blame. We must establish blame before the tragedy ends and i feel that the uncertainty that usa presents in it’s current state is very much to blame (i stress that’s how i feel, be it rational or irrational) and like wtf. People are fuckin dying but the blame must come first.
So here we are, shit sandwich and a turd burger. So yeah most people don’t see it because it’s terrifying and probably been pushed away as unimaginable. We’re very possibly going to see more violence and death because someone’s team wants to break all the toys.
