China’s top coal province Shanxi to cut output for first time in seven years
Down 4%. And part of that is because the thing fell apart.
We need to move MUCH more aggressively. Carbon emissions are still growing.
Coal shouldn’t be used for power. It’s time has passed
For China, it’s the only way they can provide power to their east coast, home to over three times the population of the US. Trust me, Chinese people hate coal power plants in their cities even more than Westerners but it’s the only option if they want to keep the lights on.
All the good spots to put hydroelectric dams and wind farms are inland, and there literally are not enough cables to bring the electricity east.
Nuclear
China is already on track to producing the most nuclear energy out of any country, and is the world leader in green energy already.
It’s just that they have such a massive population, are highly developed yet are still developing, that this still isn’t enough to meet their energy needs.
