I’m a relatively new mtber and I live about 1.5 miles from my closest grocery store. I’m looking for a cheap option to take my ass up to the store to grab some groceries as I don’t want to take my mtb because i don’t want to get it stolen and it’s just not an efficient ride.

I don’t need anything with storage, as I usually just buy enough to put in my backpack. I’m just looking for something reliable and that gets a decent glide per stroke.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I’d go for whatever you can get used and in reasonable condition with a rigid frame. I have a 1980s rigid steel 26er that I built out with lower end road bike components that’s rad for getting around town/groceries/commuting because it looks busted but works fine.

I’ve got an older trek road bike but I road it today and it seemed kinda sketchy… Didn’t love the hunched over the bars feel to brake.
