What is your metric for deciding if something should be a post or article (link, photo, etc.)?

Literally if I have an article/photo/video etc to share or just a thought? I’ve only made posts so far, though, no links.
This was my line of thinking, too.
If it’s a fairly bitesize standalone packet of info I’ll do a post. If it’s in depth or meant trigger a self-contained discussion I’ll do an article.
