When I announced my Black Ops 3 integrity bypass, someone commented that my research was not impressive and I should try analyzing Denuvo instead.
That kinda stuck with me, so I did what everyone would do and spent the last 5 months of my life reverse engineering and bypassing the Denuvo DRM in Hogwarts Legacy.
I am obviously not as skilled and experienced as EMPRESS, who managed to do it within days, but that’s ok 😃
Neat, but intentionally light on details. There were ~2000 hooked calls that they patched to get the game more or less running.
Give some examples of the calls! You don’t need to publish all 2k, but going in depth with one or two would be a great way to satisfy technical curiosity.
Very cool. Reading something intentionally vague like this that doesn’t really have the little details, but only the achievements of the process, makes it look deceptively simple. When in actual fact there is(was?) basically a single unhinged person around that has the knowledge to crack DRM on modern games.
I think this is by design and that only a unhinged person would have the patience to crack denuvo. Either that or it does that to your brain, which would truly be the greatest DRM on earth.
