Hey all,

Do you have any recommendations for a wearos watch? Or is the Google pixel watch and Samsung galaxy 5 the go to nowadays?

Fossil and Mobvid’s TicWatches are normally my go to alternatives, but personally, I haven’t been impressed with their latest offerings. Google and Samsung really do have the best WearOS devices, if that’s what you’re looking for.

That said, I realized recently I wasn’t using most of the features in WearOS. I had a dozen apps and barely used any of them. All I really used it for was notifications, music controls, and as a basic step counter.

Picked up a PineTime and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s basic, but it’s cheap, repairable, and I can flash alternate firmware/oses on it easily with gadgetbridge.

From the numerous reviews I’ve seen so far. Pixel watch is still a work in progress product. Tic watch seems promising but they have a habit of abandoning their products after a year. Galaxy Watch 4 and up seem to be promising enough with progressive updates and the platform is built on a relatively newer, power efficiency soc. Samsung is planning to use an updated version of the same soc in Galaxy Watch 6 series this August so unless they completely bail on WearOS 3.5 and up, it’s a safer bet to go with Galaxy Watch 6 in less than two months.

Yeah I’d go with some reliable company that delivers updates. I’ve heard of some company promised wearos 3,yet never delivered it 😅 but forgot which company it was. GW looks good, but their watches are locked down to Samsung phones sadly, like the ecg, sleep tracking etc don’t work with other phones. I own a pixel 7 so idk of it’d work well 😅
