I have been working on my 5k time, and today I ran at near race intensity to see where i was at. My watch has been estimating my 5k time to be around 31 minutes. Well today I ran it under 28. I go see what it had to say about this, and it drops its estimation to 30:30. “Ok bruh, I see what you’re about now.”, I say to it.

Anyways I am interpreting this as a reminder that my watch doesn’t replace a real coach, and I need to put more thought into my training.

For longer distances, I find my watch does the exact opposite. It thinks I could run a 2:56:32 marathon today. I don’t think I could even finish a marathon today, the longest run I’ve done in weeks was 11 km.

The race predictor is, in my opinion, worthless for any purpose other than to laugh at.

My best 5k was 51 minutes on trail, my watch says I can run a 5k in about 25 minutes. It’s not happening, the trails weren’t gnarly enough to double my pace, I’m just slow.
