I’ve been struggling recently with increasing side effects and reduced effectiveness with my Adderall treatment. For those of you on stimulants do the side effects even subside?

Also, how long did it take you to get to a dosage where you found the balance between tolerance and functionality

I found that my side effects got better with time, but also i ended up taking other meds (prozac) to balance me out, especially with the anxiety and lack of appetite/feeling tired.

I’m not on adderal anymore (they don’t have it in the EU), I switched to vyvanse a couple years ago, and I find that the side effects are way milder. I’d say it’s not quite as effective as adderal, but I can take it every day (weekends too) without feeling like I’m on crack.

They’ve got me on 30mg xr every day, right now I’ve been experiencing very dry mouth, nausea when I eat, loss of appetite, and I don’t really feel tired anymore. (I can still sleep just fine, but losing out on the cue of feeling tired makes it easy to blow way past bed time for me.)

        Do you consume caffeine?

And it might be worth asking about trying a slighty reduced dose?

When I initially started on elvanse 30mg, I found it to cause symptoms like you’re describing, I decided to go down to 20mg which worked just fine, less side effects, could eat and sleep.

I had to make a slightly greater effort to do things, but once going I was fine, then after 3 years on that dose I upped it to 30mg again.

Often people just need a guiding nudge from their medication as opposed to being dragged around by it.

I cut caffeine out cold turkey when I started medication a few months ago. Now I only have it once a week and only a small cup, but I also take my medication later that day.

I was contemplating if I should go down, but I’m still struggling. The last two weeks have been kind of rough as far as how effective the medication seems and my doctor has slowly been moving me up 5-10 mg a month

There are a lot of different options. I thought adderall was the worst for side effects. I’ve been through several different medications throughout the last 5 or so years. Focalin so far has been the best fit for me.
