Hello to all! Given how unintuitive the search function in Lemmy can be, I wanted to let everyone in the !nfl@lemmy.ml community know about another instance that was created to focus solely on sports. This instance was initially created to discuss baseball but I have added a community for every NFL team as well just to try and get some more participation. I have also added some communities for college football as well.

Please feel free to crosspost any NFL news onto the !nfl@fanaticus.social community and if we can manage to get some participation there I will crosspost things over here as well. Hopefully both of our communities can continue to grow NFL discussion and bring more Reddit refugees to Lemmy.

Thank you! I wasn’t a fan of having the NFL teams scattered across different instances, hopefully it congregates there well

I think it is a good idea to have these sorts of instances that are centered around a culture of whatever the users like to discuss the most, in your case, sports.

I’ve been a part of a “new-instance” spin up type of situation, and I would advise that you avoid creating too many communities right away, as it can fragment your userbase. Then again, people should be using the /all view on new instances anyway (be vocal about them doing this). Also, it is definitely natural to have comms for each team, so maybe this would be the exception to “the rule”.

Anyway, good luck! And let me know if you have a c/soccer!

Are you already federated with beehaw or other instances? I wasn’t able to add anything there as a subscription, but not sure if that’s just the normal server latency issues.
