Sometimes I think nudists have the right idea. Whether it’s laundry or finding clothing that works for you, there’s always something to sort out with clothing.
What have been some of your clothing ventures? Are you an avid thrifter, or do you make some of your own? Found some clothing or shoe brands that really last?
I get almost all of my clothes from thrift stores, though nowadays that’s usually not much savings since many thrift stores are charging MSRP or higher.
I’m picky, but I go often, so I find decent stuff at least once a month for pants, shoes, coats, etc. My taste in shirts makes it difficult to find at thrift stores, so that’s the one piece of clothing I usually buy at outlet stores.
Belts is something else I’m particular about, since the cheap, crappy belts most places sell fall apart in a few months on me, so a few years ago my wife got me two expensive, full-grain leather belts, and they’ve been all I’ve needed ever since.
Absolutely get where you’re coming from on belts. Recently had such a time with them. The faux leather stuff just doesn’t hold its shape, and in the worst case falls apart like you mention. Fortunately mine didn’t get that bad, but one of them’s getting there.
I’ve switched to looking for ones made of other materials as a result.
What materials would you recommend for the best cost:performance?
Tbh I’m still trying to figure that out. The last belt I got was an elastic material, which I hadn’t realized at first as I was just going for something not faux-leather when getting it, lol
My rules for clothing in general are no words and no pictures. I like solids, patterns, paisleys, stripes, etc. Beyond that I’m a very jeans and flats or shorts and sandals kind of person. But that may be changing after I move to a cooler climate.
