Is a random phrase I thought of in the shower the other day and would like someone to steal for a Midwest emo track

Too niche a suggestion or can people see where I’m coming from?

Was Charlie autistic? He had severe cognitive disabilities and the treatments they gave him helped for a while before he eventually reverted back to barely being able to write anything. (Been a while since I have read the book though)

What I mean is, if you were Charlie you would be at the height of his cognitive abilities as you can write a complete coherent sentence.

Charlie definitely wasn’t autistic, I just saw a lot of him in myself as he slowly discovered how the world works after his operation. It reflected a ton of my post-college experiences and made me feel less alone which was an amazing feeling at the time.

Godamn that is one of my all time favorite stories. I think it’s just an allusion to difference at the end of the day though. A case could be made that it doubles as an allusion to loss as well

No, that book is a perfect metaphor for a mind that experiences reality through a lense! It’s not perfect to the specific “translations” of the autistic experience obviously but it does a fantastic job of showing what it’s like to have to translate your reality to successfully interact with people.
