I don’t understand why people work as moderators for free for a for profit company. Maybe someone can explain why they are interested in cleaning up subreddits just so reddit can become rich?
I would think a mod is a mod for many reasons. Maybe they are passionate about a topic and want to build a community around it. Maybe they just like being in charge. Whatever their reason making Reddit rich is one of there reasons, it just happens to be a side affect.
I am not a mod but I was a very active on Reddit, voting, commenting etc… I would like to think my actions benefit the community/platform overall. Ultimately making Reddit more profitable. However I wasn’t doing it to make Reddit more profitable. I was doing it because I wanted to interact with the people, voice my opinion and have discussion. Reddit just happened to be the best platform for that.
