I.e., games that hooked you in and you couldn’t stop playing until it was finished. Not games that just happened to be unexpectedly short. And by “completed” I guess I mean the main story etc, not 100%ing the game :).

For me, it would be Catherine, Bioshock Infinite and Black Mesa (although I think I got to the final area then had to go to sleep and complete it the next day). I also played an ungodly amount of Hades in one sitting, but didn’t get the “full” ending in one day.

What Remains of Edith Finch. I ended up in tears after playing it. So beautiful.

Also on Android Monument Valley and its sequel. Mesmerizing games.

I also completed bioshock infinite in one sitting with my brother when I was younger. That shits a core memory for me now lol

    • I first played Infinite in college and the game took me about 15 hours to complete on PC. That game is a work of frickin art. One of the prettiest ever made.

I actually only just played BioShock 1 & 2 for the first time recently because the whole series was on sale in the Nintendo store for dirt cheap. So I ended up playing the whole series on our Switch while my wife watched. She’s more of a watcher than a player. I’ve been loving her watching me play the new Zelda. It’s cute.

Spec Ops: The Line. I started playing it in the morning, the story kept me engaged (and the gameplay was fun enough). I played it all day to its conclusion.

Because it’s a game that’s constantly telling the player that they should stop playing it. That everything is going to get worse if you do and it’s all your fault. That you’re going to cross the line again and again and again until every single person in the game is doomed. And then we play through the entire thing anyway, because it’s so fucking good.

Return of the obra dinn. Both because it’s good and because I was worried my train of thought would be interrupted if I took a break. Took me ~9 hours and gave me a really bad headache afterwards, no regrets.

I didn’t do the whole game in one sitting but I was glued to my chair for hours when I started Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Remember looking at them time on my phone and going, “huh, it’s after midnight”. Then again later and finding out it was the beginning of daylight savings time. Went to sleep, woke back up, and played all day again. Fantastic game.

One of my fondest gaming memories, too. I was sucked into the world. Had a rough time back then and it was the perfect escape.
