Initially it was bad, but as time has gone on it’s arguable that the Chernobyl exclusion zone has actually helped the ecosystem in the area because humans aren’t around. https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/story/how-chernobyl-has-become-unexpected-haven-wildlife Also, nuclear reactors aren’t built that way anymore, and all the RBMK nuclear reactors have been fixed so they aren’t able to experience that again.
