Open source means it’s open for everyone to use and work on. Everyone is an all inclusive term. People with different views than you can also know how to code and develop. There are people contributing to Lemmy of multiple races, backgrounds, and political beliefs.
u/spez is a dick but he did not used to mod r/jailbait . Back then any mod could add any user to be a mod of their sub and that user did not get a chance to approve/reject it. Someone took a screenie of u/spez listed as a mod and shared that screenie. That’s how he found out about it IIRC (this was a long time ago) and he then removed himself. I don’t think we ought to dilute his current stupidity with made up stupidity.
Lemmy devs are Leninists. Lemmy as a piece of software is not under their control in any way aside from development and even then it can be forked. Once its up and running its under the authority of the person running the server. It federates content, not political beliefs.
