What did you like about it?

If you liked the story, I highly recommend all of screenwriter Charlie Kaufman’s other movies, starting with Adaptation, Being John Malkovich, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

If you liked Nicolas Cage, you might also try two of his most recent movies, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and Pig, or even his older movies like The Rock, Con Air, Face/Off, etc. if you haven’t seen them.

I liked the surreal feel of the movie and the symbolism in it. Plus Nick Cage was brilliant in it. Thanks for the recommendations. I’ve only seen Eternal Sunshine among them, but I love that movie as well.

From those movies, pig was quite good. And of course all the older ones since he was in his prime back then.

My favorite movie with him is Con Air.

Interesting, I’ll check them out. Looks like I’ve pretty much not seen any of his movies except for national treasure and Next

Ah ok, then you are in for a treat. Hopefully you can find good quality versions too, remastered ones.

Good thing you posted here! Otherwise how would you have ever heard of the obscure genius of Nicholas Cage?

It is true to some extent though. I’ve only ever seen him as meme material, so my perspective was skewed against him when I think of good movies. I’m not a native English speaker, so I didn’t grow up watching a lot of English movies, so I haven’t watched many 80s and 90s English movies.

If you like movies with lots of emotional ups and downs, Beau is Afraid is the best movie I have seen this year. It will surprise you every 10 minutes. Really good movie.

I have never seen a movie quite like it.
