The former president is now highly unlikely to stand trial in the Justice Department’s election interference case before November
The Supreme Court handed Donald Trump a massive victory on Wednesday by agreeing to rule on whether he is immune from prosecution for acts committed while he was president. The court will hear arguments on April 22 and won’t hand down a decision until June — which means it’s unlikely a trial in the Justice Department’s election interference case will commence before the election. If Trump wins the election, he’ll of course appoint an attorney general who will toss the case, regardless of how the Supreme Court rules this summer.
By Wednesday night, Trumpland was celebrating.
“Literally popping champagne right now,” a lawyer close to Donald Trump told Rolling Stone late on Wednesday.
That being accidentally correct doesn’t make you some kind of prophet.
Enjoy your pyrrhic victory in the fascist timeline.
I mean for one thing I didn’t enjoy being correct. I would much rather have been wrong. But this wasn’t an “accident”, this was an observation that billionaires do not face any consequences for their actions, and the system is rigged to keep them in power. This was noting that the judiciary is stacked in Donalds favor, that Donald, the republicans, and even the wider government is corrupt to the core. Fascism is a rot that has taken hold in America and Donald is just a symptom of that.
I think we can repel these evil forces, but its going to take a lot of resistance and effort. Gone are the days of progress and simple change; we now need systemic changes at all levels of government just to get back to where we were 30 years ago. Socialism and progressivism is the answer, but I have no idea how we could possibly implement it here.
