I’ve seen people suggesting improvements to sign-up which mostly amounts to hiding technical language (servers, instances, fediverse) and adding clearer signposts. I’m also seeing discussion on GitHub around UI improvements to the website as well as native apps.

Example: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1183

What’s stood out to you so far? Where are the quick wins to improve usability and accessibility?

Need something that allows us to enter a URL that automatically converts it to a URL to a community for the server you’re logged in on.

So if you’re on lemmy.world and you enter in https://lemmy.ml/c/uxdesign, your browser takes you to https://lemmy.world/c/uxdesign@lemmy.ml

Frankly I have no idea how people are getting around without knowing the ins and outs and I imagine it’s worse for people on mobile.

Add a way to ‘browse’ communities. A way to discover communities by navigating different categories instead of just search. Search often finds no hits if you don’t know what is there. Search is liked by text thinking users, but fails badly for visual thinking users.

Yeah I’ve been finding this hard, too. Best method for me has been to browse the communities other people follow, and use Mastodon to search using hashtags - both methods have led me to new communities, but it’s not been easy.

People point to https://browse.feddit.de/ but I’ve not found it to be that useful.
