It looks like they forgot to finish their homework and submitted it hoping no one would notice, but it really stick out to me.

I’ve seen other people mention it, and it makes sense it’d look like something missing considering all the recent large MacBooks have had their speaker grills there. But it doesn’t bother me personally.

Oh yeah. Can’t say I’d noticed that, but yeah, it does look kind of odd.

To be fair though, my 2015 MBP has the speaker grills, but the speakers beneath are are rat shit, so I’m guessing that at least the speakers on the 15" Air are actually decent.

I don’t know….placement of the speakers on my 14” MBP is one of my only 3 gripes with it (the others being slow response of the screen, and the fan cutouts on the side that always make it feel “sharp” when picking it up or putting it down).

If I’m playing music while typing, I find that I sometimes move my hand over the sides of the keyboard- where those speakers are - and it feels like one ear goes temporarily deaf.

So I don’t mind if they have changed that design/placement.

I’ve not seen it in person yet, but from pics I kinda like it, looks clean. I work in IT and support Macs in our environment. I’ve not seen this on Macs I use/own, but many times I will see users’ speaker grills gummed up with dust, other yuckies. So at least in that regard I like this change.
