I haven’t built out this idea as much as I’d like, but I have an idea for a religous ceremony based on an ancient radio telescope for my post-post-apocalyptic world.

Basically, they have a temple built around an ancient abandoned Arecibo-style radio telescope. The original towers and the middle suspended part are gone, but they’ve built replacements.

The priests stand atop a platform suspended from 3 towers like the reciever was, while a massive crowd gathers in the dish below. The priests then lead the crowd in a long prayer/ chant, with the crowd echoing back everything the priests say.

They believe that through this ritual, they are able to communicate with the gods up in the heavens, and the priests are said to often recieve visions, prophecies, and commandments during these ceremonies.
