The Digital Services Act, recently passed by the European Union, places strict content moderation requirements on Meta, Twitter, and other tech platforms.
I like the part where they repeatedly state that the law is designed to protect european citizens while simultaneously implying that it somehow harms americans.
The writing here threads a needle between “good for europeans” and “bad for american PATRIOTS” in a way that is really funny to me, as a brit.
Whatever the law does that is good for europeans is good for americans too, they’re just so heavily brainwormed by FREEDOOOOOOOM shit that they can’t see it.
Anyway whatever, if the yanks want to fight it they can and their platforms can be banned in europe as a result. They can all be replaced fairly easily anyway. It’s not like other countries where they’re not allowed to operate haven’t easily replaced them. They can comply or they can get out.
