Could you elaborate on how you would amend a ceasefire resolution to accomplish the necessary goal of a ceasefire in the current political environment?

I suspect we’ll stop at nothing, due to Bibi’s bloodlust and American desire to funnel taxpayer dollars to defense contractors who are arming the Israelis. What do you propose could change this equation to bring about peace?

How about a one week time window before consequences kick in, starting with mild economic sanctions and slowly scaling up over time until a ceasefire is reached?

I see what you’re getting at. Ramping up consequences via sanctions would be a great place to start!

I’d hope one of the first methods of doing this would be to cut off military aid for Israel…they’ve been getting ~$4bn/year from America for something like 40 years now, and this seems like an opportune time to stop funding them.

It’s actually not, since they are a military ally, and in a war. If we stab them in the back mid-war, that makes our alliances worth less.

This is the big reason we keep vetoing the ones that are only words. Weakens our alliances, and for nothing except some shame. When Netanyahu is shameless.

But, if there was a mechanism, it might be worth it.
