I’m posting this question here instead of in the Wetshaving community because I suspect that it is a facility that exists across communities.
Is there a way to do user-to-user messaging?
Yes, but only in the web interface (Jerboa can’t do this, AFAIK). You click on the username, and then you should see a menu where you can message the person.
I’m looking for a messaging interface that has fields for recipient, subject, etc. and which tracks message discussion threads. I’m wondering if including this is part of Lemmy server configuration.
I don’t think it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but if you click the bell icon, click all, then click messages, you’ll see your PMs back and forth. The interface isn’t great, though.
Thanks. Yes, that’s kind of where I started with this. I figured that there must be a better way. When you edit a private message, there’s a little warning icon that suggests using the Element.io for secure communications. I followed that path and have a matrix.org account and an element.io app, but don’t know how to connect that to sub.wetshaving.social, nor do I know if that’s worth it at this stage.
Oh, that’s interesting.
So, Matrix is a messaging protocol, and the little I’ve messed with it looks like an open source discord. I wasn’t aware it had anything to do with Lemmy. I’ll have to look at that to see what if anything can come of it at some point.
Yes, this is backburner stuff. I’m sure you have more pressing issues atm.
