Currently playing Smash Bros. Ultimate. Used to main Jigglypuff but after getting completely destroyed by Yoshi players I switched to Yoshi. If you can’t beat them…

I’d love to play Melee, even have Slippi fully set up but I don’t think I’ll ever be mechanically good enough to be “decent” at this game. Too fast.

I’m the same about Melee! I’ve mucked about with it before, but the game is so optimised these days that the idea of getting into it is daunting.

Ult player here. Haven’t played it seriously in a long time but recently I’ve been maining Link. Wolf is probably my best character all in all but I got bored with him after a while, as busted as he is.

I’m exactly the same re melee. Getting started with that game is really daunting.

Hello! I started playing brawl when I was very young, and kept up with the series since. I’ve always mained yoshi because I loved the little guy when I was a toddler and never really developed past that. I started to go to locals late last year, and I’ve gotten a lot better at the game since thanks to the excellent MD/VA scene. I can now properly yoshi my way to top 5 or so in a local, but the minute I go to the top weekly in my state’s capitol, it’s a bloodbath where I barely go 2-2. I’ve got time to improve, but it’s shocking to learn how massive skill gap between you and the veterans of the scene is once you start.

I also love melee, but it’s just so technical and fast, I can’t keep up. I’ll still watch Amsa though.

Been with the series for a long time. Got Ultimate on launch day and have been playing regularly since. I’ve gone to a couple locals, but haven’t been in that scene for a while now (not enough free time). I mostly play casually with my coworkers on lunch anymore. My mains are Ganondorf and Byleth.

Not going to lie. I slept on Byleth for a good bit there. They’re just such a bland character in Three Houses. Mind you, I wasn’t one of those people that were mad they were added. Just wasn’t interested in picking them up. Then I saw some of the shenanigans people were pulling with that up-b and I gave them a shot. Instantly fell in love with the moveset.

I love playing Ganendorf. There’s such a disparity between his ranking at top level and how powerful he feels to play. Playing him also taught me about tech chasing. Sure side-b -> down-tilt is a true combo, but its so much more rewarding to let them choose an option and then punish it. Learning how to do that was what finally made tech chasing click for me in general.

Nothing in gaming has made me feel more powerful than landing five flame chokes in a row. If only that high didn’t come with the soul crushing lows of being off stage…

It’s the sad truth of the heavyweight lifestyle. I also play Bowser, and even Samus is prone to it :(

I’m just getting back into melee as a young link main, but I mostly play ultimate as Ness or Young Link. I love my projectiles.

I’ve considered putting some serious time into YL, he’s such a good character. There’s a really good YL main who comes to my local, though, while currently I’m the only Samus main. Its nice to stand out a little!

Hey all! I first played brawl as a kid, and got into smash 4 at the end of its life cycle. Completely fell in love with ultimate, I mainly play offline with friends. I don’t really have a main, just going with I feel like at the moment. As of now, I’m enjoying playing Marth, Corrin, Falcon and DK

Hey! I’m happy that I found this sub…lemmy? I usually play duos as Isabelle and jigglypuff (love my girl) with the person I live with. I’ve always wondered if anyone ever recognizes our combo! Looking forward to making a fun community with you all!

    Edit: I play SSBU

TBF there’s not many who’ve been here longer than I have, haha. I just volunteered because I thought they might need the help.

Howdy! I’m Clipboards - i’m a retired New England Smash T.O. and I mostly lurk these days (trying to break that habit here, though, so here I am).

I’m a Bowser Junior player (Lemmy is my friendlies character lmfao) & I got my start with Melee back in 2001-2002. I’ve played every smash title since, with Smash 4 being the title that propelled me into the regional/national tournament scene back in 2016.

    I’ll start.

While I remember playing Melee on a friends GameCube back in the day, it’s only the last year or two that I’ve really gotten into the game, since I got Ultimate. About six months ago I started going to my locals, and I’m still going 0-2 every time (there are some word-class players here, FML). That said I’ve been putting some work in and I’ve definitely improved. I main everyone’s favourite interstellar bounty hunter, Samus Aran.

Tournaments can be demoralizing when you end up playing against some cracked players. I have realized that I am more of a friends only smash player, although part of me is still drawn to tournaments.

I joke, but it’s actually kind of inspiring playing with these people. They’re all really good at identifying my weaknesses and then exploiting them ruthlessly, but afterwards they tell me what it is I need to improve on and I come away motivated to not make the same mistakes again.

I’ll probably never be a top player, but in a few months of playing against these guys I’ve improved dramatically.

I’d gladly go to tournaments if there were any in my city. Yeah, I’d get my ass kicked but it’d be a nice excuse to play some smash

Hey! I’m from Chile and I might say I’m currently in a character crisis, though I do enjoy playing Villager the most.

I’ve been playing smash since my little brother and I got the game back on the N64. I’ve been a fan of the series for ever, but now I only play Ultimate.

I’ve never been to a local in my life, mainly because I’m not very good at the game, but also because I don’t know many people who play the game and I’m terrible at meeting new people. I do follow the international competitive scene, which is why I’m so grateful this community exists. Hopefully we can stay up to date with tournaments and game results.
