    Blast from the past

    • Razor: Merkur 34c
    • Blade: Derby Extra Stainless Steel (blue)
    • Brush: Boti Laminate brush with motherlode knot
    • Lather: Razorock Blue Label
    • Aftershave: Mühle Aloe Vera Rasurlotion

I “reviewed” this soap in a cringey SOTD on r/wicked_edge three years ago when I was pretty new to the hobby. Fun times 😅

Lol, I had mastered it temporarily until it returned as an issue while learning to straight razor shave pussy year. Back to not being an issue, thanks for asking 😊

I had to re-read that sentence several times, and I’m still not sure … well. Not that I care or mind if you’re shaving your pussy with a straight, of course. Good for you, man! The mechanics of what down there might be considered the “neck” are the only thing that confuse me.

Jokes aside, that’s some unfortunate autocorrect!

    June 10, 2023

    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts w/Maggard SHD 30mm Fan
    • Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (6)
    • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Lavanille - Soap
    • Post Shave: Brut - Splash On
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm

The tour of the GEM’s continues, and this is probably the end of it until next time. All 3 of my GEM razors give good shaves. No standout winner out of the 3 so far, which are a Clog-Pruf, MM24, and Pushbutton.

I’m not sure I’ve tried the Pushbutton. Agree it’s hard to find a favorite with the GEMs, they all compliment each other well.

Jun. 10th, 2023 - guiltily in love with a scent

    • Prep: CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
    • Brush: Zenith 507U XSE (26mm)
    • Bowl: Proraso Mug
    • Razor: RazoRock Lupo .95 SB
    • Lather: Zingari Man - The Gent
    • Post-shave: MoonSoaps - Warmest Regards

Posting this one here as well, one day late.

An ironic pick given the recent Discord discussion. Fuck that brand name, and this scent for being so good, and me for being willing to abandon my morals for good-quality shave stuff.

    Amazing shave otherwise, though. 🤔

    Jun 10, 2023 - Bluegrass Muse

    • Prep: Klar - Activated Charcoal - Face Soap
    • Brush: Brochas El Druida/House of Mammoth Tobacconist Chisel & Hound v8 Fanchurian
    • Razor: Mühle Rocca R94
    • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [15]
    • Lather: Gentleman’s Nod/The Razor Company - Bluegrass Muse - Soap (C4+)
    • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Monoi de Tahiti - Aftershave

MdT is the closest scent profile that I had to Bluegrass Muse. Both scents are fresh and complex. While MdT is more floral and doesn’t have the boozy note, they do share some similarities—namely, the lime and ginger.

    Rating: 4.5/5

    Edit: spelling

    6/10/23

    • Brush: Omega Premium Jade Boar
    • Razor: Feather Artist Club SS Kamisori
    • Blade: Feather Professional
    • Lather: Declaration Grooming - Southern Paradise
    • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming - Southern Paradise

Nice cool shave with Southern Paradise spiked with Permafrost. This boar is breaking in nicely but still has a ways to go. I believe it’s unbleached and the backbone definitely feels stronger than my unbleached brushes. The brush feels luxuriously soft with painting strokes but still has a little tiny bit of scritch when I splay the brush.

I was thinking about selling this razor since I mostly use the Feather SR since I acquired it, but after becoming very comfortable with shavettes I decided to revisit this razor again and it was a lot of fun to shave with it, so I might keep it around.

    June 10, 2023

    • Brush: Munnin Woodworks w/AP Shave Co 24mm Titanium Synthetic
    • Razor: Edwin Jagger 3One6 Grooved Blue
    • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3)
    • Lather: Murphy and McNeil - Gael Laoch Orange - Soap
    • Post Shave: Thayers - Lemon - Toner
    • Post Shave: Murphy and McNeil - Gael Laoch Orange - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

The scent on this soap is a Creed Viking dupe with a boost in citrus. I think it’s a great scent. An awesome way to greet the day.

I’m still not wild about the Titanium knot I installed in this brush, but it loads like crazy then gives up all that lather. I find that the lathers I build with this brush don’t lack for anything. Today’s lather was thick and hydrated to the edge of dripping. This made shaving a breeze.
