Many of British Columbia's mayors and councillors are in Vancouver for a two-day summit to discuss housing in their communities, and several came out swinging against provincial policies in the opening session Tuesday.
I have little sympathy for the mayors. Housing has been a problem brewing for decades and precious few municipalities have done anything about it in that time. Now you get a whip cracked in your direction. Too bad.
Indeed, and as a new wester I’ve seen how much housing supply you can add if you embrace growth. I believe New Westminster is now the densest city in Canada - there’s one in the GTA that’s pretty close though.
