I’ve seen a lot of these “tell me about your world” prompts on the subreddit, but they often result in people either writing massive walls of text or a single short sentence that is incredibly vague.

So instead I want to try something different. Introduce your world using exactly 50 words, not more, not less. Not sure if that’s a good number, I guess I’ll find out.

My world is a post-apocalyptic setting focused on a human colony on a mars-sized moon where civilization has regressed to a medieval/ renaissance level of technology.
Magic is various pieces of pre-fall technology, mainly nanomachines.
The old world is heavily misunderstood and has resulted in many myths.

A vaguely humanoid species with a bronze age civilization but effectively has ‘face blindness’ and cannot recognize individuals. Their communications are generalized because they cannot establish a personal history with other individuals and treat everyone as essentially the same person. A mutation develops that allow some to recognize individuals and they use their ability to manipulate those that don’t.

Cool. I think that would result in either an incredibly individualistic or extremely collectivist society, is that the case?

In some sense yes, but also very inhuman by our standards because our expectations of individually aren’t just not respected, they’re a foreign concept. But the main fun is in how the new ‘mutants’ deal with their ability. They usually discover it alone and aren’t certain what it means but at some point meet another that can distinguish identity and their interactions with each other become the focus.

Though this is a kind of new idea for me so I haven’t had time to go too deep with it.

You don’t have to explain everything, you should be able to sum up the core idea of your world in such few words.

I could sum up some era maybe, but there is no overarching story to my world so I don’t really know what to say. I have many different kingdoms which have risen and fallen, I have prehistory, I have revolutions, I have modernity, etc.

So you’ve got a vast scale, following this world from the stone age to the space age.

What people are there, are there only humans? Are there no humans?

How many continents are there, what are they like?

Is there magic in your world?

Sorry, I misspoke and meant contemporary instead of modernity. The contemporary of the world is medieval as it was made for DND 5E.

There are all races as per DND 5E’s core ruleset + Tashas + Volos.

There are 8 continents, 93 islands large enough to have names, and 11 countries. To describe any one of them would take a wall of text.

There is magic for sure since it’s for 5E.
