Thanks! I use Windsor & Newton’s Winton Oil Colour, so they arent water mixable and take FOREVER to dry. Really enjoy working woth their pigments over the ultra cheap oils that the craft store had.

Tried out oil because of the “water soluble oil paint”, blew my mind (I’m a aquarelle guy which means more or less one try only) you can get back later and redo stuff or just continue! Ofc no turpentine etc just water is really cool too, but slow drying is amazing :-D

Started with Lukas paint, regret mostly because the winsor&newton tubes are much better looking(and well, W&N are top of the line, especially in aquarelle).

        Made an apple :-)

PS. I do not know which one is the master copy, they both look like they have could been.

Edit: SO says master is second because it looks like you worked harder on the first one :-) when are you letting us know?!

I use Lavender brush cleaner as a paint thinner, I started out with odorless mineral spirits but dont have the best ventilation in my apartment and cant open a window cause its too cold. The bottom one is a master copy of an Edgar Payne, the top one is from following a tutorial by Robert Mee the apple looks good! I plan on doing alot of still lifes soon, ive got a book from the library on color theory and mixing which has a ton of exercises using still lifes and colored construction paper. There are just so many resources available these days, so much fun to explore them all!

Hardest thing for me is finding things to paint that is in my level, so I’ll stick to apples and such for a while :-)

            See you around!

Edit: its late here, forgot to say I’ll definitely check out your video link.
