I don’t know if it’s me missing something obvious, but the video player controls are where I would assume the expand to be.

Hiding video controls just leaves it as a thumbnail, and clicking on it has no effect. Brave browser, the only extension that might be messing with it is Video Screenshot.

    Huh… Thanks for bringing this to my attention. This works perfectly in Firefox. So I fired up Chromium to test it with and am experiencing the same issue you’re getting. I’ll look into it.

      From what I gather, video embeds are still a WIP according to this github issue: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/709 I’ve asked about it on the Matrix chat and I’m waiting to see what the maintainer says about it. For right now you can right click the video, open in new tab to view it.

      Lemmy as a whole is beta software they’re in an unfortunate spot where they have to get as many features done as possible and focus on optimization for specific things (The DB queries being slow and blocking, for example) before July when the API gets closed down. If this whole Reddit exodus had happened a bit later, they might be in a better spot as far as onboarding a lot of people.
