Hi everyone, My keyboard started doing this a couple months ago where only the right side of it will light up on start up and I have to manually go to OpenRGB to load my profile every time I turn my PC on. When I load my profile manually the whole keyboard lights up so I know it is not an issue with the backlight (unless it is then fml). Sometimes only a small portion (like the picture) doesn’t light up, and other times the whole left side doesn’t light up, its completely random. I have re-installed OpenRGB already and my keyboard is the only piece of hardware that is having this issue. My PC and mouse load perfectly every time. If anyone could give me advice on how to get my whole keyboard to light up on start I would really appreciate it. Thank you!!!

edit: keyboard is an ASUS ROG Strix Flare is that helps!

I have the same keyboard and this sometimes happens to me too. If I kill OpenRGB and restart it it gets resolved most of the time, but sometimes it takes rebooting the keyboard (replugging it or waiting until the next time I wake the computer after putting it in sleep mode). I assume it’s just the OpenRGB isn’t 100% in supporting it. Dealing with this is still better than the awful Asus software though. This is clearly not a hardware issue.

If it’s not a software issue, there could easily be broken cold solder joint. LEDs are usually wired in rows using a common power trace for each row (or column).

Cracked connections create a higher resistance, which causes more heat, which may cause the cracked solder joint to flex slightly and open somewhat randomly.

It’s a removed to find those things, if that is the problem. Intermittent problems are usually a hardware issue.

(It could be a broken trace and not a solder joint. Similar issues can happen though.)
