Transgender minors and some adults in Missouri will soon be banned from accessing puberty blockers, hormones, and gender-affirming surgeries under a bill signed Wednesday by the state’s Republican governor.
Beginning Aug. 28, Missouri healthcare providers won’t be able to prescribe those gender-affirming treatments for teens and children. Most adults will still have access to transgender health care under the law, but Medicaid won’t cover it.
Uh…wasn’t a ban just like this overturned less than a week ago by a federal court?
This is bad, but I’m not sure we have reason to worry that this will actually stand.
Yep, Florida tried the same shit and was shut down by a Federal judge. I don’t know if that was the last stage in that appeals process though.
Also from the article, this is only a temporary measure. It’s only in effect for 4 years. I guess that was all the more of a win that the GOP needed to rally their christo-fascist base…?

Yeah, we’re not the most welcoming state at this point. In case you weren’t aware, that banner image is the road signs that greet you when you cross the state line into MO. I guess we’re going for irony with that, because the fascists are in a race to the bottom to make this the most hostile and exclusive state.
However, /c/missouri welcomes you. :)
Because obviously no one knows better about healthcare than fascist Republican politicians. Doctors? Pssh.
