Another issue is that communities can disable some languages, but as a user you don’t see which ones are enabled/disabled.
Never hesitate to politely point it out to the community. I’m part of a few French speaking communities, we always make sure to only enable French and to indicate it in the sidebar
user has all languages available, so French would be used as the common language with the community
user only has a few languages selected, including French, so same as above
user doesn’t have French in their languages, in that case they usually ask in the support community (which allows every language) and see that it’s a common issue

Now I’m wondering, does that cause an issue when posting or commenting with a third-party apps, which might not have the ability to assign a language?
