Welcome! This is a brand new community so to get some posts rolling and some discussions started, feel free to post a picture/text list of some of the RC cars you have, which one(s) is/are your favorite(s), and why
I’ll go first - I’ve got only 4x4 short course trucks at the moment, but interested in branching out to other types of RC cars eventually. I have an Arrma Senton 3s, Traxxas Slash Ultimate, and Losi Tenacity SCT. I love them all but my favorite is the Losi simply because it handles the best around the tracks I usually race on. The Arrma is a close second mostly because it was my first RC truck and that thing really can (and has!) take a beating
sweet, still kind of new to Lemmy so I wouldn’t even have thought to do that. Thanks!
Just completed my annual ritual of spending nearly $300 to replace the batteries in my 8S XMAXX because my dumbass once again forgot to put them in storage charge over the winter…
oof, luckily I have yet to totally ruin a battery by forgetting storage charge but I’m sure someday that will catch up to me lol. Those XAMXX’s are pretty cool though, a little too expensive for me but if money were no object I’d have one already
I’ve got an old brushed Traxxas Rustler around somewhere. Recently I’ve been thinking about digging it out and driving it around.
I bet my batteries are wasted, though…Any battery recommendations?
Nice, I’ve considered getting one of those before. I usually use whatever is cheapest. I race with some other guys and we agreed to use 2s batteries only, I usually get the Zeee brand on amazon but thats only because its cheap. Really I would just get the cheapest lipo that has a hard outer shell and the right connector for your truck
I’ll look into that!
Would i need to change the ESC or anything?Depends what you have, make sure you don’t put a battery with too many cells on it, and make sure the connector matches. If you have a weird proprietary connector, you can probably bring it to a hobby shop and they would switch it for you. The one near me charges like $5 to solder on a different (more common) connector - was worth every penny. IC5/EC5 seems to be the best choice at the moment for the 2-4 cell batteries
