I saw it in the theater when it came out. All I really remember was thinking why didn’t I leave sooner?

I am a big Lynch fan too. He didn’t like it, and I don’t like it either.

Tempted to go. I’ve seen it a dozen times but never caught it in the theater. Not sure if it’s worth it though. They should show the unofficial spicediver cut.

I’ve seen it enough times to have made my peace with it. I don’t think the theatre experience will add anything, except maybe to emphasise how detailed some of or all of the sets are, but I know that already.

I have to presume Lynch himself isn’t behind or thrilled about this, and I’m enough of a fan of his to respect his distaste for the film. It’s very much a “could have been” film with so much clear potential, but for me, as with many I presume, it just doesn’t get there.

I like the new Dune movie, but I love this one. I don’t hold any particularly deep reverence for the novel (so the differences don’t bother me), and I just like to bask in the overt weirdness of the entire affair. I can see why Lynch wanted to do it in the first place. Shame it didn’t turn out how he wanted it to.
