basically everything sounds like a proxy war hiding behind a religious mask.
Exactly. I mean the main driver for the conflict is the Israeli desire for Lebensraum (back in the day there was the Palestinians wanting to kick all Jews out of Palestine too, but nobody’s taking that seriously now), but as for who’s supporting who yeah it’s a proxy war.
It’s a pretty bad situation, but it’s not as hopeless as it seems. The “Middle Eastern countries tell Israel to drop their shit” way of ending the conflict isn’t happening without serious regime change in multiple countries, but that doesn’t mean there are no options. Currently the most promising path, which is the one the Palestinian resistance is taking, is “make Israel slowly lose international sympathy and turn itself into a pariah state,” but as you can probably see it’s not pretty.
Oh I forgot: If you haven’t heard of it, look up BDS. They should have a list of things you can boycott or divest (pressure your government to boycott, basically) or otherwise pressure to help the Palestinian cause. It’s not as big as one would hope, but it’s probably the current biggest threat to Israel.
