The Baltic states gained their independance and I don’t think anyone can seriously claim they’re worse off

You’re thinking of Russia, they didn’t do well from the break up of the USSR because they were always an extractive empire. The Baltic states gained their independance and I don’t think anyone can seriously claim they’re worse off
