Anyone else starting to worry a bit? Radio silence was fine for reddit when the app features stayed relatively stable but lemmy is changing quickly and I’m not sure I can wait for Sync to catch up. Once the federations bugs are fixed and my instance updates I’m really going to be sore if “scaled” sort still isn’t available here.
Very much so. My alarm has been increasing for a while, but no one else has seemed worried. The hasn’t really been an update in months and the app is still missing advertised Ultra features that a lot of us are paying for. The major argument behind the increased prices was that it would be full time development, but that’s clearly not the case
Imagine being me paying $100 for lifetime on an app with broken features and an AWOL dev. I should have known the devs would slowly start to bail when the Lemmy hype died down after the reddit dust settled. Artemis was also abandoned in a similar fashion for kbin.
LJ isn’t bailing. I can tell you that for sure. He just always goes AWOL for a new months with no communication then drops an update with a ton features and bugs fixed at once. The app isn’t dead. He just got other things going on.
And with reddit that was fine. It always ended up the best looking and customizable app, for years, and the backend features of reddit it used were stagnant for years. It worked out.
But I can’t imagine paying $100, because I went monthly. I’ve still paid <$10 and I’ve had that much value from the app already.
And I’m going to continue to support him but I dread to see the day I start daily driving another lemmy app.
FWIW you can get scaled by setting your user default sort on your instance. A restart of Sync shows the scaled sort but it doesn’t show as an option to reselect so you have to get back to your default view again somehow to revert the sort. Usually I just restart the app.
It’s really going to come down to if update drops can be roughly as consistent as lemmy version updates. And we’re yet to even really see what a regular lemmy update schedule will look like.

I can confirm about LJ’s absences. If you’ve been part of the Sync discord for a while, you’ll notice he takes extended time off every now and then.

What a great user experience lol
(sorry Lj)
Yeah, it’s not ideal but it’s a workaround that works consistently and is mostly transparent for me since I don’t change the sort order much any more.
I appreciate it nonetheless. I know I’ll hold out and end up having to do the same.
He’s probably in vacation. It’s still new year afterall.
It’s not a great sign.
