    Wonder how someone class conscious like this ended up in the US military.

      Tbh the military can often have the effect of beating class consciousness into you. Also not everyone who joins does so for imperalist reasons but because they need a job and education that the military can provide.

        Yeap, a lot of some of the best leftist organizers I know are prior military personnel. Most join before they have any kind of conceptual understanding of class consciousness. But there’s not really a better radicalizing process than being discharged from the military, especially if it’s because of an acquired disability.

      Some people stuck in the lower class try to use the military as a means of getting out.
