‘Enshittification’ is coming for absolutely everything::The term describes the slow decay of online platforms such as Facebook. But what if we’ve entered the ‘enshittocene’?

I must not be understanding, you think collective action is the same as an individual complaint?

I think all these assholes care about is money.

If your nonparticipation doesn’t cost them more money than they get from the assholes who pay to shove ads in your face, you will accomplish absolutely nothing. If you haven’t noticed - boycotts don’t do shit, nowadays. The numbers involved break the concept. Abuse remains the dominant strategy, so long as they move slowly.

Yeah it is frustrating and demotivating trying to get collective action going. People are more concerned about watching TV immediately than they are about keeping it nice to use long term. I’ll probably still try to nudge anyway. Worst case scenario if individuals quit is basically that they find a different hobby to replace ad-driven streaming, that’s a win.

Don’t recall saying “frustrating” or “demotivating.” It straight-up does not work. It has been broken.

Just teach people how to pirate.
