Based on my experience with dev teams, I suspect that the devs themselves do great work and would strongly prefer to make a beautiful and efficient platform that delights users.
The problem is that they aren’t the ones designing product roadmaps, prioritizing backlogs, and generally ignoring tech debt and outstanding bugs. They’re getting their marching orders from product, who in turn is given priorities from the execs. It vibes from the top.
