Some nice pictures of a GHO in New Jersey.

And a note from Freedom First Wildlife Rehab

One of our biggest expenses is keeping our rehab freezer filled with species specific, healthy Owl food!

We cannot do this work alone! Did you know that Maple, the Great Horned Owl eats 120 grams of food daily. This costs over $5 per day to feed…$1,825 per year for Maple alone Food costs are one of our highest expenses.

We are a 501©(3) Non profit charity and all donations are tax deductible! (EIN 83 4041742) We receive No funding from the state or Federal government to do this important work and rely on wildlife supporters like you!

RodentPro is where FFWR says they source their owl food, if you want to see what different items cost.

The rescues will often put out cost breakdowns near the end of the year. I didn’t post any since I don’t want anyone to feel pressured into anything. They do show how much the owls eat though.

I believe the local to me rescue feeds the Screech 2 small mice a day, and the GHO gets a rat and a chicken every day.

      They do look really good!

I’m not a camera person myself, too many fragile and expensive parts, but many photos I post I get from Flickr, and many photographers will list gear used for any of you into that.

This camera is discontinued, and looks to go for $1000 used on eBay for just the camera body which is 😮 to me, but it is obvious it takes a darn fine photo at least.
