    Are those muskets? Why are their rifles so long?

      I can’t be sure because of the resolution but those look like 1903 Springfields. They were 43 inches long, including their 24 inch barrel. They were a typical length for the period.

        I guess the very long bayonets at the end make them look even longer.

        I’m fairly certain those are Berthier rifles, it would go with the French helmets, and 1915 Chauchat. I think I can even make out the aluminum handles on the bayonet.
